  • Sarahsson: 'The Ringing World'

Thursday 25 April
The Mount Without, 19:00 — 19:45
Book tickets

A site-specific performance for surround sound, light and dancers, responding to the architecture, histories and acoustics of The Mount Without church, Sarahsson’s ‘The Ringing World’ is informed equally by research in the city’s diocese archives and the science fictions of J G Ballard and others. This special one-off show has been commissioned for Bristol New Music 2024, and is a collaboration with The Mount Without’s resident dance company Impermanence, and lighting designer Roo MacPhee.

Sarahsson

Bristol based composer, producer, performance artist and DJ, Sarahsson has fashioned a distinctly personal sound world and visual aesthetic through which to explore queerness, identity, history, and belonging. Equal parts beautiful and grotesque, her theatrical live performances fuse neoclassical composition with extreme sound design, destabilising rhythms, and earth-shattering percussion. More

Impermanence

Co-Directed by Roseanna Anderson & Joshua Ben-Tovim, Impermanence was set up in 2011. Described as ‘subversively beautiful’ by The Guardian, the award-winning company is building a regular programme of dance at The Mount Without, where they are resident, having played a central role in the restoration of the building.
