Carl Stone is one of the pioneers of live computer music, and has been hailed by the Village Voice as 'the king of sampling' and 'one of the best composers living in the USA today'. He has used computers in live performance since 1986.
Two anthologies of his playful and radical sample-based works ‘Electronic Music from the Seventies and Eighties (2016) and ‘Electronic Music from the Eighties and Nineties (2018) have been released by Brooklyn label Unseen Worlds, with the same label releasing two records of new material last year, 'Baroo' and 'Himalaya', both of which charted in The Wire’s top albums of 2019.
