The Thicket is a piece composed by multi-disciplinary artist Yas Clarke. Guided by an in-ear audio score, four singers perform an intricate, rhythmic and melodic text that is written in an obsolete vernacular, an arcane expression of the human relationship to its environment. Sometimes narrative, sometimes abstract, sometimes non-verbal, the result is a hypnotic a capella work.
Yas Clarke is a sound artist and musician, often working in collaboration with performance makers and choreographers.
